Director/VP of Events

SaaStr is a fast-growing community of SaaS executives, entrepreneurs, and founders sharing best practices on how to grow their businesses faster, with less stress and more success. Our community engages with us and each other through our popular blog and content resources, events (including our Annual event which has over 10,000 attendees in San Francisco), our Co-Selling space in San Francisco, our Investment Fund, and our brand new SaaStr Pro. We are tackling a large number of large projects over the next year–in the US and abroad. We have a ton of irons in the fire and love folks who are creative and excited to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done.

About you:

SaaStr is looking for an experienced events professional to help drive production of all our proprietary events. This is a dream job for any events guru that wants to plan the largest non-vendor event in SaaS, attracting over 10,000+ attendees and over 100 sponsors. This is the role that can make your events career. The right person has the ideal mix of creativity and logistics, is obsessed with spreadsheets, incredibly organized, and knows the ins-and-outs of managing a budget.


  • Collaborate on and lead the development, logistics, and strategy for SaaStr Annual–our 10,000+ attendee event in San Francisco
  • Collaborate on and lead the development, logistics, and strategy for SaaStr’s other global events–like SaaStr Europa in Paris, our Summer Social, and more
  • Develop, manage, and obsesses over a detailed and dynamic budget for each event
  • Be comfortable and excited to own a revenue number and margin goals associated with ticket sales, sponsor sales, and event spend
  • Develop and own a master project plan that drives execution cross-functionally across every member of the SaaStr team
  • Work directly with sales, demand generation, design, and content to develop a cohesive and well-executed event strategy
  • Act as the liaison between clients and vendors (hotel, DMC, production, catering) through contract negotiation, food and beverage selection, audiovisual, production, function space allocation, entertainment, security, event load in and load out, and signage
  • Effortlessly manage all onsite execution across staffing, registration, attendee experience, sponsor experience, speaker and session scheduling, and more


  • Obsessive project manager who is highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent communication skills–both written and verbal
  • No-holds-barred negotiator when it comes to contracts and vendors
  • Ability to create, maintain, and foster relationships with members of our community, sponsors, and vendors
  • Passion for attendee experience
  • Advanced understanding of budgets, numbers, and P&Ls
  • Calm-under-pressure during times of stress and the ability to think of solutions on the spot
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment


  • BA/BS
  • 5-7 years in corporate event management–B2B software experience preferred
  • 3+ years experience as the primary owner of a large-scale trade show or event
  • Experience working with event management agencies and other vendors
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets
  • Experience working with a project management tool like Wrike, Asana, or Smartsheet
  • Salesforce and Marketo experience a plus
